What calendar do we use?

The Gregorian calendar is the standard calendar used in most of the world today, including the United States. It was introduced in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII as a refinement of the Julian calendar. The Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar, meaning it’s based on the Earth’s orbit around the sun. It consists of 12 months with varying numbers of days, and incorporates leap years to maintain alignment with the solar year. This calendar is used for civil, religious, and commercial purposes globally.

While there are other calendars used in specific regions or by certain cultures, the Gregorian calendar remains the most widely adopted system for international coordination and everyday timekeeping.
